Country artist Pete Scobell will take part in one of the most-anticipated musical events of the year when he joins the line-up for Kid Rock’s Chillin’ The Most Cruise.

THE OTHER STARS DEBUT ALBUM + SINGLE

Worcester, MA-based indie rock band THE OTHER STARS will be making their introduction on April 29, 2016 with the release of their inaugural mini album We Were Kids via Take This To Heart Records. “It’s about heartbreak and people growing apart,” explains frontman Connor Bird, “You know, that shift from being a teen into adulthood that everyone goes through. Friends start moving away or go down different paths than you, and you start to realize that everything isn’t always going to be the way that it is now, which sucks,” he adds.

The album was produced by Ian Van Opijnen (The Hotelier) and recorded at Echo Room Studios. The Other Stars blend modern indie rock with ‘90s alternative while layering on top quirky, reflective lyrics. “A lot of the lyrics are about people being immature and all of the hurtful things they do without thinking when they’re younger,” describes Bird. From infatuation and heartache (“You Looked Better At The Party”), to being used (“Home Is Where You Make It”), to loneliness (“Very Okay”), We Were Kids examines relationships and makes you appreciate those fun-filled, responsibility-free years.

OLIVIA WILDE GETS INTO MUSIC VIDEO DIRECTING

Edward Sharpe And The Magnetic Zeros today share their video for the song “No Love Like Yours” which was directed by actress Olivia Wilde and shot in New Orleans; the same city where the band recorded their upcoming album PersonA (out April 15). For a band that has always made spectacular videos, “No Love Like Yours” may be its most visually arresting and provocative to date which is all the more remarkable considering it was shot completely on iPhones. The video can be viewed here.

A good deal of the songs on PersonA were written by all ten band members collectively. Writing would often begin with a member playing his instrument not even knowing where the song would go with principal songwriter and singer Alex Ebert encouraging and directing the song’s shape yielding wonderfully unique ends. It’s little wonder that Rolling Stone wrote that PersonA is the band’s “most risk-taking, freewheeling album yet.”

HUDSON BELL NEW SINGLE

San Francisco’s Hudson Bell will release their new album Yerba Buena on April 22 (Earth Day). The release will be available digitally and on limited edition CD, with mini-LP sleeves featuring artwork by Lawrence Wells. Consequence Of Sound premiered the band’s new single “Box of Bones” and said, “Hudson Bell’s songs tend to evoke an indistinct time and place, but they’re also heavy on visual imagery. This one is no different, with its unsettling descriptions of haunted houses and skeletons hiding beneath green lawns.” Hudson Bell told CoS, “The title is lifted from a Donner Party tune I liked in the ‘80s, but the song started with the vision of someone digging up an old shoebox from under a tree. Everyone has regrets and secrets, but some folks follow their past to a scary place. ‘Box of Bones’ is about ending up in that place, and trying to get out before it’s too late.’” “Box Of Bones” is also streaming and available to share via SoundCloud. Hudson Bell has also announced two shows taking place in June. The band will be perform on June 4 at Starry Plough in Berkeley and June 5 at the Hemlock Tavern in San Francisco.

NASCENT INDIE POP/ELECTRONICA DUO EDISON + BELLE’S NEW LYRIC VIDEO FOR “OVER MY HEAD”

Pop fans around the globe can click here to check out the exclusive worldwide premiere of nascent indie pop/electronica duo Edison + Belle’s new lyric video for “Over My Head” on Popdose today. Taken from their debut EP, LOVE BEYOND, “Over My Head” is an infectious track about the dizzying effects of love. Of the track, lead guitarist/songwriter Joseph Lewczak commented, “”Over My Head” is as simple of a love song as you can get. At its core it’s about “limerence” – that intense flood of emotions that you get when you are falling in love with someone else and you feel like your life is out of control and that you are, “over your head” about the other person.” Lead singer/songwriter Richie Leone added, “”Like all of our songs, “Over My Head” started out as an acoustic demo, just guitar and vocal. But it became apparent right away that it should be produced as a song inspired by all of the great pop tunes of the ’80s, taking nods from power pop bands like The Outfield.”

GALLERY CIRCUS “HOLLAND ON FIRE”

Gallery Circus, identical twin brothers Daniel & Graeme Ross have released a brand new track ‘Holland On Fire’ on Killing Moon Records, the first track to be taken their highly anticipated ‘Chi-Town Dogs’ EP, out later this year.

Produced by Dan Austin (Pixies, Doves, Mallory Knox), the record captures the brother’s raw and abrasive energy, showcased during their relentless touring across the UK / Europe. Over the past year the twins have quickly built up a reputation as being one of the UK’s most formidable new live bands and jumped on tours supporting acts such as Hanni El Khatib, King Charles, Little Comets, Kill it Kid and Arcane Roots.

“HAZE”

The new track “Haze” is a prime example of BARDUS’ melting pot mentality. Blow The Scene refers to the band as, “one of the few underground bands that offers a dark and saturating heavy presence while maintaining an air of accessibility not off-putting to even the most ardent fans of abrasive metal while giving psychedelic metallers a lot to love. BARDUS are a difficult band to categorize with a live show that sees walls of speaker cabinets primed to shake the listener to his or her core, with the experience falling somewhere between Sunn O))) meeting Fight Amp at a Fugazi basement show after stepping into a time machine and everyone proceeded to get blazed out of their minds.”

FRONTIER FOLK NEBRASKA NEW SINGLE

Frontier Folk Nebraska have debuted a new track, “Desert Car Chase”, from their forthcoming live album. The song premiered with The Wild Honey Pie who describes it as “an ode to classic American rock & roll, the song is unprocessed and natural — the electric guitar/snare drum combo is assertive and driven, the vocals are coarse and resilient and the lyrics are young and reckless.” On April 1st, Frontier Folk Nebraska will release their new live album This One’s For the Kid in the Back: Live at the Southgate House Revival.

BILL MURRAY PLAYS BALL WITH “SCOUTING FOR DIAMONDS”

Bottom of the Ninth Films has announced Academy Award-nominated actor and lifelong Chicago Cubs fan Bill Murray as co-producer of SCOUTING FOR DIAMONDS, a feature-length documentary in progress about the invisible heroes of baseball: the scouts. Nashville Mayor Megan Barry revealed the news earlier this week as she accepted the first annual “Beacon of Light” award from the Nashville-based non-profit organization, Tennessee Women in Film & Media (TWIFM), during their International Women’s Day celebration on Tuesday, March 8th.

“‘SCOUTING FOR DIAMONDS’ is an unprecedented historical look at baseball scouts and how they’ve changed the game,” Mayor Barry said. “The film’s trailer recently caught the eye of someone watching it in a bar at a country club who then basically said, ‘Put me in coach, I’m ready to play.’ I am thrilled to announce that Bill Murray will now join SCOUTING FOR DIAMONDS as co-producer.”

THE MYRRORS SHARE IMMENSE INSTRUMENTAL TITLE TRACK VIA BANDCAMP

There’s a confounding nature to the comfort constructed by The Myrrors throughout the flawless forty minutes of Entranced Earth, the third full-length album from the transcendentally-tuned, Tuscon-tied desert die-hards (and their second for Beyond Beyond Is Beyond Records). Those looking for terra firma – for ground not given to staggering shifts, for easily grasped handholds, for the force of gravity as we know it – are likely to find the album an often-groundless experience. But for listeners willing to give themselves over to the landscape presented on Entranced Earth, the reward lies in the discovery of new lands, and the sound of a band operating at the peak of their powers.

The band’s sound has been called “unlike anyone else past or present”, while Unum is hailed as “a vibrant, otherworldly, out-of-body experience of an album”. “BEHAVE” FEAT TECH N9NE

There are some things you take to the grave. “Cheating is one of them – I wouldn’t want to know if my partner cheated on me,” cites rapper/singer Krizz Kaliko, who releases a single on that topic today called “Behave,” which debuts via Complex. “Take that to the grave. No need to mess up everybody’s life because you got caught up in a moment.” That’s not what you’d expect to hear from rapper or pop star but Krizz isn’t your ordinary anything. Born with vitiligo, a skin condition that turns parts of your skin white, Krizz (born Chris Watson) was teased incessantly but knew he had a special gift of creating music. Adopting the name for the spotted and particolored cat known as the Calico, Krizz Kaliko kept it moving and kept making music. He will release his sixth studio album, Go, on April 8th via Strange Music. Named after Krizz’ modus operandi, Go, serves as Krizz’ first ever Pop/RnB album release.

TORONTO’S LASER PREMIERE VIDEO FOR “DISCO NIGHT DRIVER”

Laser’s sound takes cues from electronic and atmospheric albums and late night country drives from Lisa and Paul’s Toronto home to Marty’s remote “studio in the forest.” Their music is an example of both the synthetic and the analog, both city and forest, of an atmosphere creating a score for an introspective and meditative drive out of town.
