PUNK VETS THE DAYGLO ABORTIONS RETURN WITH ‘ARMAGEDDON SURVIVAL GUIDE’

Few punk bands have remained in business for as long as the veteran Canadian trio, Dayglo Abortions, has. Since 1979, the band (in one configuration or another) has been offering up no-holds barred punk rock, as well as some truly over-the-top (and unforgettable) album cover artwork/images. And the lads are back with their first studio album in twelve years produced by Rob Shallcross(and ninth studio set overall), ‘Armageddon Survival Guide,’ which will be unleashed on March 25, 2016, via Unrest Records.

Currently comprised of members Murray Acton AKA “The Cretin” (guitar and vocals), Willy Jak (bass), and Blind Marc (drums), ‘Armageddon Survival Guide’ combines their unique blend of catchy punk rock, heavy metal, comical humor, and pissed off political rhetoric, with lyrical content that challenges and disputes the verities of modern life. Classic Dayglo Abortions style goes hand in hand with feelings that are not so far from bands like Antiseen, and their anti-social nihilism attitude. In general, this is the band’s best material since their classic records from the 80’s.

“ANDROMEDA”

Elephant Stone, like their most obvious influences, are an ever-evolving group led by Rishi Dhir, a musical auteur who sees the world through a lens of the past, but not the recent past. After having successfully courted the vintage fetishist psych community for years, Dhir and Elephant Stone have recently (and easily) evolved into a sound based more around the Creation Records-era from the British Isles, as evidenced by the Primal Scream-esque rhythms of previous single “The Devil’s Shelter” and her follow-up, “Where I’m Going”. Today, they release “Andromeda”, a song completely at home on a record shelf full of Ride and Embrace LPs. The natural progression of Elephant Stone has been thrilling to watch, and the latest material does the era their influenced by a service, rather than just aping it.

TETRA “GHOSTS”

Stunned and Saddened when they learned about the terrorist attacks in Paris, Tetra and her co-writer/producer, Ben Cohen, felt compelled to put down on paper their feelings on existentialism and mortality. “Slipping through the cracks in my fingers. Sink into the ground underneath. Do you believe in Ghosts?” The verses were inspired by the brutal impermanence of time while the chorus attempts to find solace in the idea of continued consciousness.
