OUR SOLAR SYSTEM (VART SOLSYSTEM) PREMIERE CINEMATIC, IMMERSIVE B-SIDE “AT THE EDGE OF TIME” VIA DECODER MAG

There would seem to be something playful, and possibly deceptive, about the title of Stockholm prog psychedelic outfit Our Solar System’s second album, In Time. It’s a phrase that, whether in a musical or even an appropriately astrological sense, indicates confines and regular rotations, even the absence of the abnormal. Yet “abnormal” could be the axis around which all planets in the Our Solar System galaxy revolve. For an album that so effortlessly delivers trance states in sound, the effect of In Time on the listener is likely to be one of orbiting far beyond those confines and regular rotations, toward a delirious detachment from the ticking trap of time.

BELIEFS NEW VIDEO

Last autumn Beliefs singer Jesse Crowe (also a professional hairdresser when not on stage with her guitar) wanted to shave her head. The only problem was she was playing in a Portishead tribute band on Halloween night and she had kept her hair styled like Beth Gibbons for months to look right for the part. So she waited eagerly til Halloween. The day after she got good friend Shehzaad Jiwani of Toronto band Greys to shave her head in the Unlovable Bar bathroom, music video director Ivy Lovell captured the process and turned it into Beliefs’ latest video for their album closer Swooner (Leaper).

CANDACE “NEW FUTURE”

Candace (formerly Is/Is) infuses their music with a sense of mystery and brooding atmosphere. Psychedelic and shoegaze influences emerge throughout the catalogue: the atmospheric tones of early Verve, a droning pulse reminiscent of Loop. Some songs bounce gleefully forward with a pop sensibility, while some keep a cool distance and move with a language distinctly their own.

TROLLER SHARES TEASER VIDEO FOR ‘GRAPHIC’

Troller are sharing a video teaser for their new album Graphic today, set to release on 4/8/16. The song is called “Dryld”.

Austin video artist T.C. Johnson created this piece by manipulating an analog video feedback loop in real time to produce unstable fractals and various textures. Latency causes the signal to simultaneously perpetuate its own creation and disintegration, ad infinitum.

“We’re Getting Older,” a song about aging gracefully is not your typical disco bit.
