ARCANA 13 NEW SINGLE

Elaborates ARCANA 13 vocalist/guitarist Simone Bertozzi of the song’s debut, “One of the first songs conceived in our journey into Italian cult horror, ‘Arcane XIII’ is inspired by an eerie movie directed by Pupi Avati. Avati never excelled in the slasher style but has always been a master of the twisted and the disturbing, with his oppressive sets and suffocating photography. To move over his asphyxiating images of esoteric nature and black magic, we laid down a groovy and hypnotic track, with one the catchiest refrains of the album. It’s also the most choral-rich tune, evocative in soundscaping the main theme of the movie: that the devil will only serve if he can be master. ‘Arcane XIII’ it’s a mouthful, yet it barely scratches the surface of what is to come.”

GEMINI RETURNS IN 2016

While still electronic at heart, Wanderlust catapults Gemini into a wide-angle world of pop-driven atmospherics – quite literally. Shot via drone throughout Iceland during a period extensive global travels to escape writers block, we’re swept across mind-blowing glaciers, snow painted mountaintops, sleepy villages and epic waterfalls in the arresting new clip.

WILDHART “FANTASY”

In spring 2016 we will be able to hear their full EP, but January 21st they are finally releasing their second single and musicvideo ”Fantasy” from the upcoming EP. Fantasy is a sensual song and compared to ”Stuck in a Second”, it is lighter and softer but still has a distinct electronic snap and knocking beat that runs through the whole song. In the middle part of the song, the singer Ylva Holmdahl’s laid-back voice sings ”Do it, Do it”, surrounded by a weightless and blurry sound. In the outro, movement reappears again with Kiwi Berg’s stringbase-melody and fragments of voices. At last it leads to the breeze of the breathing ocean.

“YOUR LOVE COULD START A WAR” BY THE UNLIKELY CANDIDATES

On December 4, 2014, citizens filled Times Square to protest the Staten Island grand jury’s decision to not hold the NYPD accountable for the death of Eric Garner. Months prior, an unarmed Garner was suffocated in a chokehold by an NYPD Officer for selling loose cigarettes. As the heart of the city beat furiously with pain and rage, Kyle Morris (Vocalist) and Brenton Carney (Lead Guitarist) walked through the square, absorbing the energy, imagery, and heat of it all. They walked one block up Broadway to the old Quad Studios, (The site where the Tupac and Notorious B.I.G. feud began) where they had been recording, and did the only thing they really could. They wrote a song about it.

NORWAY’S AUNT MARY RETURNS WITH NEW DAWN ALBUM RELEASE OUT FEBRUARY 12

The heavy rock icons approach this come back with a new line-up, and plans to stage select appearances across the globe. Pioneers on the Norwegian heavy-rock scene in the early 70s, Aunt Mary was considered among the absolute elite of European rock bands. Alongside Deep Purple, Ten Years After, King Crimson, Jethro Tull and others, the band shared the scene, at times overshadowing these cornerstone acts. They officially broke up in 1973 following the release of their heavily progressive oriented album Janus, and the successful tour staged to support the title. Over the next several decades, they sporadically staged appearances, and issued an album of Blues covers in 1992 titled Bluesprints. After a period characterized by both musical joy and personal profound grief over the last several years, Aunt Mary looks towards 2016 with optimism and a keen commitment to cement the band’s legacy as a cornerstone act in the Scandinavian and worldwide history of rock.

The Hope Six Demolition Project draws from several journeys undertaken by Harvey, who spent time in Kosovo, Afghanistan and Washington, D.C. over a four-year period. “When I’m writing a song I visualise the entire scene. I can see the colours, I can tell the time of day, I can sense the mood, I can see the light changing, the shadows moving, everything in that picture. Gathering information from secondary sources felt too far removed for what I was trying to write about. I wanted to smell the air, feel the soil and meet the people of the countries I was fascinated with,” says Harvey.

HIGH HIGHS NEW SINGLE

High Highs have shared another track from Cascades, premiering ‘How Could You Know’ on Brooklyn Vegan. High Highs’ Jack Milas describes the creative process behind the track as such: “This tune was one of the first ones we wrote when we finished touring and went to the country to start writing. Its a simple song that came out really naturally. It was the song that bridged the gap between the first record and this one. Once we had How Could You Know I think we had the confidence to step further into unfamiliar territory for the rest of the record. We had a lot of fun playing this one in Oli’s living room with just a piano and 12 string guitar, and that method dictated how we wrote a lot of other songs on the album. It was important to us that they sounded great stripped right back.”
