Boy George is famed for his appearance and talent as a singer songwriter, achieving fame with the group Culture Club and for his solo work of the 90s and 2000s. Boy George is available for bookings through MN2S Booking Agency.

Boy George was part of the New Romantic movement in the 1970s and, aside from being an extremely talented musician and singer, is known for his iconic androgynous appearance. Boy George has sold over 100 million singles and over 50 million albums as a solo artist and with the 80s group Culture Club, and continues to be an in demand live act and DJ for booking all over the world.

His unique style originally attracting the attention of music executive Malcolm McLaren, who had been manager of the Sex Pistols, Boy George was invited to perform with the band Bow Wow Wow, but friction with the group’s lead singer, Annabella Lwin, led him to quit the band and start his own project with bassist Mikey Craig. The cross dressing lead singer and black British bassist were joined by Jewish drummer Jon Moss and ethnic English guitarist Roy Hay – the group’s diversity proving to be the inspiration for the name Culture Club.

Rejected by EMI, the group signed with Virgin in the UK and Epic Records in the US, and released their first album ‘Kissing to Be Clever’ in 1982. The album charted at number 5 in the UK and number 14 in the US and spawned the single ‘Do You Really Want to Hurt Me?’ which reached number 1 in a number of countries worldwide.

The next album ‘Colour by Numbers’ was also hugely successful, hitting number 1 in the UK and Number 2 in the US and featured the famous single ‘Karma Chameleon’. The third album ‘Waking Up with the House on Fire’ was also a success, albeit not quite on the scale of the last two records. The single ‘The War Song’ rose to number 2 in the UK charts and Boy George performed on the Band Aid Christmas single, ‘Do They Know It’s Christmas’.

After the demise of Culture Club in 1986, Boy George began treatment for his drug addiction, eventually recovering to release a solo album, ‘Sold’ which won success in the UK and Europe, including the number 1 hit, ‘Everything I Own’. In 1989 he formed his own record label More Protein and realised a string of underground hits under the alias Jesus Loves You.

Boy George is also now a renowned DJ, coming to the attention of promoters Fantazia after his first gig at Planets in Picadilly. He went to mix a disc on the collection ‘Fantazia: The House Collection 2’, which was a great success and his compilation for one of Ministry of Sound’s early CDs sold 100,000 copies.

Overcoming battles with drug addiction, community service and imprisonment, Boy George is still just as iconic figure in music and fashion as he ever was, and continues to perform to huge adoring audiences worldwide. Recently producing and recording more material and collaborating with the likes of Mark Ronson, he released the album ‘Ordinary Alien’ in 2011 and started a house music record label VG Records with DJ/producer Marc Vedo. Boy George can be booked to perform at many kinds of events through MN2S Agency in London.
