POPOF X ANIMAL & ME

Parisian POPOF gets set to release the second single from his stunning artist album ‘Love Somebody’ on Hot Creations. “Going Back feat. Arno Joey” is also a collaboration with Animal & Me with a feast of remixes from Eats Everything, Lee Foss, Miss Kittin with Oxia, Luca Donzelli and Mar-T.

Label co-head Jamie Jones tells Billboard that the Donzelli and Mar-T’s remix has become a staple of his DJ sets for good reason. “The vocal is already familiar to people and it’s a great one to get the peak time crowd moving,” he says. “Working with POPOF has been a real pleasure. He is a versatile DJ and producer, but is also humble sweet person — characteristics of a great artist — and now member of the Hot Creations family. His debut live show was great at DC-10 a few weeks ago, and it was a brilliant addition to the Paradise line up.”

MEDIA JEWELER NEW VIDEO

Media Jeweler arose as a veritable phoenix out of the ashes of a revolving-door big band following an unexpected but celebratory funeral pyre supporting A Hawk and A Hacksaw in LA. Calls were made and within two weeks a leaner and decidedly meaner entity emerged, outlook fresh.

2 years later, their debut album aims to capture the relentless restlessness of being alive on this increasingly weird and overstimulating planet. It was recorded and mixed in a casual and really quite nice three-day session during the dawn of spring at Machines with Magnets by Seth Manchester and Keith Souza (Battles, Lightning Bolt, etc.). It was mastered a week later by XOQ (Liars, Factory Floor, Martin Gore, etc.) The mood varies drastically on each of the seven tracks that make up the narrative of the album. We celebrated its completion with a few dozen jello shots at the local watering hole where we witnessed a man with a voice like crushed charcoal yell and storm out while Kid Rock’s deepest cuts droned.

JR DONATO NEW SINGLE

There aren’t many 21-year-old’s that can say they’ve been in the rap game for 8+ years. Taylor Gang via North Chicago rapper J.R. Donato is one of the few that can. Premiered by DJBooth, “Make It Count” is an embodiment of the work that J.R. Donato has put in since he began rapping at 13. Rhyming as Young J.R., he scored two regional hits in Chicago while still in his early teens. Still, his peers didn’t take him very seriously as he was distributing CD’s of his music at school – but finding the music he worked hard to make on the floor or in the garbage didn’t deter his ambitions, rather it pushed him to take things a few steps further. He’s turned doubters into believers and aspires to continue this effort with his forthcoming Fast Money & Freedom project, due September 28th via Taylor Gang Ent.

Only this time, they decided to get behind the camera and direct the video on their own.

THE CLASSIC KIDS RELEASE DEBUT SINGLE AND VIDEO “JUST BEGUN”

Meet The Classic Kids, a supremely infectious foursome with a most appropriate name. Ranging in ages from 21 to 26, Eric James (Bass/Vocals), Matty Boy (Guitar/Vocals), Max Dean (Guitar) and Mikey G (Drums), are, for all intents and purposes, still kids. But, together, they’ve blended retro influences with modern sensibilities to create an undeniably classic sound.

JAM CITY NEW VIDEO

Jam City drops the second video from his “Dream A Garden” album.

EARTH RIDES ALONG PREMIERE “CHEAP SHOTS AND TWO DOLLAR BEERS”

Earth Rides Along is a duo composed of brothers Colby and Stefan Slade. Growing up in Canada, the brothers picked up instruments from an early age and performed together in high school bands around the local club circuit. During these formative years, they were influenced healthy dose of electronic artists, later acting as a springboard into the now tech driven scene of home based computer music and it’s endless spawn of permutations. Throughout their art and means of creation an underlying theme becomes more apparent, hinting at an overarching harmonious dualism. A minimalist 2015 bedroom operation with a somewhat maximalist yield; wide colorful electronic palette with a foundational monochromatic pop sensibility; interpretive yet direct and clean lyrical prose; all hewn together by a nuanced midfi aesthetic consisting of a blended murky lofi and crystalline hifi.

Old Prussian tribes lived around the current territory of Kaliningrad (Russia), which formerly was known as Königsberg. This region is located between Poland and Lithuania next to the Baltic Sea.

ETHAN HAWKE STARS IN ‘BORN TO BE BLUE’

BORN TO BE BLUE, starring Ethan Hakwe as legendary Jazz musician Chet Baker and Carmen Ejogo (Corretta Scott King from Selma). The film, directed by Robert Budreau, will have its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on Sunday September 13.

BORN TO BE BLUE is the first narrative feature film depicting legendary jazz musician Chet Baker. Forgoing the standard conventions of the music biopic, the film instead reimagines one particularly turbulent period of Baker’s life reimagines one particularly turbulent period of Baker’s life and his love affair with a beautiful actress named Jane (Carmen Ejogo from Selma). With Jane’s unwavering support, Baker attempts a late-career comeback.

In preparation for the role, Hawke learned to play trumpet and sing the striking melodic songs associated with the music legend. With a jazz-like narrative fractured with beautiful musical interludes and dreamlike flashbacks, BORN TO BE BLUE’s structure mirrors Baker’s most celebrated music.
