With a successful East Coast tour almost complete, Fox & Fowl has provided yet another treat to with the release of the video for single ‘Eliza’.
Revealing the group’s brand new lineup as a trio, the video flips between performance shots of the band and a clearly besotted couple. ‘Eliza’ is the first of the recent Fox & Fowl tracks recorded with super producer Steve Schram (San Cisco, Paul Kelly) who picked them out of hundreds of entries to record as part of John Butler’s Seed Fund.

MARK MCGRATH HOOKS UP WITH PLEDGEMUSIC.COM
Mark McGrath, an American singer from Southern California, is best known as the lead singer of the groundbreaking band Sugar Ray. Mark co-starred in last summers indie hit Sharknado 2 and has a role in this summer’s sequel Sharknado 3. In addition to his role in Joe Dirt 2: Beautiful Loser, opening July 16th, he was the co-host of Extra, and hosted Don’t Forget The Lyrics as well as TV show Killer Karaoke.
Though Sugar Ray is still together and as Mark puts it, “Rocking stages around the world,” Mark is excited to announce his debut solo record and he has chosen to work with PledgeMusic, the groundbreaker in the direct-to-fan platform.

“This concept was birthed out of my curiosity about what a cat really does at night while we are asleep,” says Skinner. “Where do they go? Cats have a very mysterious myth to them and I thought it would be cool to explore that, as little nocturnal heroes. I decided to put a sort of Joseph Campbell hero myth spin on it and add some Jodorowsky psychedelia as well. I’m more than excited about the way it came out! I love it!”

FIREBUG SET TO RELEASE NEW ALBUM
FireBug’s new full album Homeostasis is set for a September 15 release. According to Jules Shapiro, lead guitarist and cofounder, “This album presents a new dynamic in our band, both with our sound and our approach.”
Juliette Tworsey, the band’s lead singer, met Jules in the Wicker Park section of Chicago, where they immersed themselves in the Chicago music scene and formed FireBug. They moved to Los Angeles, living behind the Silverlake Lounge, where they regular hosted “Firelight” events and invited four or five local east side bands to play there. Then, they found themselves drawn to the laissez-faire, musically-charged atmosphere of New Orleans.

Bernie comes from a place of discovery, with Steve McKay relaying, “Writing melodies and coming up with arrangements comes really easy to me, but writing lyrics is tough. When we were writing songs for this record, I was listening to a lot of Elton John and thinking about that whole Bernie Taupin lyricist-partner thing. It’s like it would be so much easier if somebody else would write the lyrics for me and I could just hammer out the hooks”. Describing the writing process, he continues, “We were going for a bit of a James Taylor vibe with the arrangement – it’s just an acoustic guitar, tic-tac bass, piano and floor tom. We specifically recorded this with a classical music engineer, Kirk Starkey, with the hope that he might pull a little more out of the acoustic instruments and the Church where we recorded. I think he did a pretty good job”.

THE AMAZING SHARE NEW VIDEO FOR “SAFE ISLAND” WITH STEREOGUM
The Amazing have shared their new video for “Safe Island” with Stereogum. The clip is the second in a series of three directed by London design firm Shilling & Shilling for the band’s fourth studio album, Picture You. Lead designer William Shilling said:
“Part of concept was a continuation from the previous video, “Picture You” – exploring the main character of the woman further and the idea of someone watching and following her. The idea came from the title of the track and its sound. They both have a kind of nostalgic happiness for the first section – but the end re-contextualises everything, making it feel pretty dark. So for the second half we tried to flip those feelings on their head and imply something a bit dark or nightmarish. To convey that, we went for a lot of static shots – kind of strange picture postcards that bring back a smash of memories – in this case pretty murky ones. We also used odd close ups – a bit stalkerish or like a lover’s old memory, straddling the line of both we hope.”
