SAVANT “KALI 47”

Every now and then our ears are witness to something new, something it never expected. Usually it signifies the birth of a new genre of music, other times its the perfection of one. Sometimes if we are really lucky we will become a part of something bigger. At first listen, it is the impossible. After that, it is the realization of dreams.

For EDM and beyond that something is SAVANT.

THE DEAD MILKMEN ANNOUNCES WEST COAST TOUR

Over thirty years, dozens of lawsuits, and hundreds of hours of bird watching later, The Dead Milkmen are still crafting irreverent music that’s as relevant as ever. Such a twisted notion was proven with the Philadelphia quartet’s latest full-length, Pretty Music For Pretty People (out now via Quid Ergo). Now The Dead Milkmen are setting its sights towards the West Coast with an April tour.

Renowned for their satirical approach to punk rock, The Dead Milkmen will kick off their first West Coast tour in nearly three years at Vancouver’s Fortune Sound Club on April 17 before coming to an end at L.A.’s Troubadour on April 25.

DAVE & MANDY ALBUM PREVIEW

Dave McGraw and Mandy Fer have set March 3 as their US release date for Maritime. The new record is steeped with compelling vocal harmonies, electric guitar, warm cello and the driving rhythms of rich wooded instruments- a sound that is identifiably their own. Europe has been championing Maritime for months now, having charted at #1 on the EuroAmericana Chart for two consecutive months and ranked among the Best Albums of 2014 by The Telegraph, praising it for “…soulful songs, intuitive musicianship, and fine singing.”

This album walks the genre lines of folk, indie-rock and rootsy Americana with ease. Drawing on the nature around them, McGraw and Fer recorded Maritime in a cabin on an island nestled between Seattle, WA and Victoria, British Columbia. Instead of leaving to record in a bustling city, McGraw and Fer decided to stay isolated at their seaside home, calling on kindred musicians and their producer to share in the experience. Recorded live in a home following a dirt road with towering evergreens sans cell service, the musical story of a patient island is told.

WHITE ARROWS NEW VIDEO

Noisey has premiered White Arrows’ video for “Nobody Cares” from In Bardo out now on Votiv. Noisey said, “‘Nobody Cares” is a slice of seductive pop with undertones of anxiety, but the video-premiering above-elevates it to a whole other visceral world. White Arrows’ Mickey Church says “This song means a lot to me, so when going through treatments, I was looking for something cinematic. Something that could potentially be part of a larger loose narrative with the rest of the album. I think about “Nobody Cares” at least once a week-the sentiment. I get angry about it, sad about it, annoyed about it, and liberated by it.”
