DOTZILLA “VAPORS” VIDEO

Arkutec met Dev3n on social media in 2010. “I was definitely listening to a lot of older progressive rock when I was making the beats for Equality,” says Arkutec. “Stuff my dad used to play, like Pink Floyd and Yes – also a lot of ELO and Genesis. I was also bumping a lot of Jake One, Dilla, and Madlib beats around the time – so I had to get some heavy drums and live percussions.”

DJ WHIIITE REMIXES NICKI MINAJ

As anyone who heard his remix of Lana Del Rey’s “Shades of Cool” knows, shadow-clad Producer/DJ Whiiite (Chris White) has a way with sultry female vocalists. That said, the L.A. favorite is back with a new jam just in time for your Friday Eve, this time with hip-hop’s leading lady of the moment, Nicki Minaj. Out today, January 22, via Earmilk as a free download, Whiiite remixes “Only” ft. Lil Wayne, Drake and Chris Brown, off Minaj’s December 2014 studio LP, The Pinkprint. With Nicki Minaj – “Only” (Whiiite Remix), Whiiite effortlessly blends cutting-edge dance music with a thumping odyssey of 808s over Minaj’s original haunting and minimalistic hip-hop beat. If the art didn’t make it clear enough, this remix definitely deserves the song equivalent of a “Bad Bitch Alert”.

HEAVY METAL GREATS, RUTHLESS, RETURN WITH NEW ALBUM

The 1980’s was an extremely busy and fertile time for heavy metal, as quite a few sub-genres first rose to prominence during this time, including thrash metal, hair metal, and power metal. And one of the unsung heroes/trailblazers for the latter style is Ruthless. Hailing from Los Angeles and responsible for two classics of the metal underground (the 1984 EP ‘Metal Without Mercy’ and 1986’s full-length ‘Discipline of Steel’), Ruthless is reloaded with a powerful new line-up, and a brand new full-length, ‘They Rise,’ which will be released on Friday, January 30th.

PARAMORE ANNOUNCES “PARAMORE: WRITING THE FUTURE”

Fueled By Ramen recording group Paramore has announced “PARAMORE: WRITING THE FUTURE” an intimate evening of music with Paramore and Their Friends Copeland, set to hit prestigious theatres like the Beacon Theatre in New York, Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, and the Dolby Theatre (formerly Kodak) in Los Angeles beginning in late April. “It feels right to bring the Self-Titled era to a close,” said Hayley Williams. “We’ve had a very personal and hugely triumphant journey with this one. What wouldn’t feel right is saying goodbye to this time in the band’s career and not celebrating it with our fans in some special way. So we’ve decided to do one last little run with it. Smaller shows, beautiful theaters… and we’re not calling it a tour, by the way. Each night will be a little event, or as we said just a few seconds ago, a celebration.”
