Drawing influences from Alter Bridge and Metallica, Meaxic writes strong guitar riffs combined with melodic vocals. The band isn’t afraid to step out of the box and challenge themselves with writing more complex songs. Inspired by bands like Dream Theater, Tesseract and Periphery, Meaxic strives to play around with different time signatures and big hooks.

When asked to describe his music, Ryan Culwell says, “listening to my music is like watching No County For Old Men…all the emptiness and violence will either scare you away or you’ll find yourself alone at 3am with it on repeat.” His songs tell tales of oilfields, honky tonks, loss, fistfights, and the forgotten place that is the panhandle of Texas. On March 3rd, Ryan Culwell will release Flatlands, his first album in more than 8 years, on Lightning Rod Records (Jason Isbell, Billy Joe Shaver, Amanda Shires).

Guitar World Acoustic Nation premiered “Never Gonna Cry,” the first single to be released from the album, and called it “masterfully crafted and artufully delivered.”

ZRO FOX “MIGHT NOT”

Hologram Kizzie sets off “Might Not” with the slick line “I don’t need a motherfucking co-sign.” Kizzie goes on to pay homage to Ang13, Da Brat and a host of other Windy City female emcees that came before her. Throughout her verse Kizzie takes no prisoners and proves that she’s the lyrical bruiser of ZRO FOX. ProbCause follows up Kizzie’s mind melting bars with a laid back flow that sees the burgeoning Chicago rapper spit about getting his Master’s degree while on acid. ProbCause complements Kizzie well, holding down the experimental druggy Andre 3000 role to his partners Big Boi.
