Just in time for the 2014 midterm elections, Gary Cherone’s Hurtsmile has released a new lyric video for the song “Big Government”; check it out here. The song, which appears on the band’s new album, RETROGRENADE, is an unabashed political critique, featuring Cherone’s fervently ironic vocals (“Omnipotent, omnipresent, omniscient big brethren…” Of the track/video Gary Cherone commented, “This song was inspired by a quote from best-selling author and nationally-syndicated talk show host Dennis Prager, ‘the bigger the government, the smaller the citizen’. The lyrics speak for themselves.'” Prager, himself, is featured in the Hurtsmile song.
