NEW ALBUM & SINGLE BY RHYTON
Rhyton (Dave Shuford, Jimy SeiTang, and Rob Smith) is a group of experienced sonic voyagers, well versed in music both ancient and futuristic and wise enough to know that the distinction between the two is more subjective than one might initially be taught. They take ancestral forms, instrumentation and scales, primarily sourced from Middle Eastern and Greek traditions, and incorporate them into the context of scorching improvised rock. On November 18th Thrill Jockey will release their new album Kykeon on limited LP and CD.

HOSANNAH ALBUM POSTED
This debut album, by Hosannah (of @uppanotch) is a trip into the mind of a scientist who constantly updates his governing equations and theories for life. Each of the tracks on the album connect the complex equations of life’s daily operation in a fluid and dynamic framework. It’s like listening to a PhD recite rhymes written in between the lines of a textbook amidst carefully and meticulously constructed instrumental rhythms. Appropriately so, because that’s exactly what it is!
PONY BWOY EMOTIONAL FIRST TRACK “mər-mər”
SInce releasing their first self titled album together last summer, the Minneapolis based electronic R&B duo of Jeremy Nutzman and Hunter Morley aka Pony Bwoy are ready to drop när-kə, 13 more songs of depth, texture, and soul. This is headphones music of the highest caliber, where synths creep around beats in fluid motion and hushed vocals fill the spaces in between. Pony Bwoy is here to party, but their music is wonderfully fit for the after-after-after party, when the sky turns dark blue and the streets have emptied. när-kə is an impressive display of Nutzman & Morley’s collective grip on dynamics, rhythm, and songwriting, but what sets Pony Bwoy apart from the herd of post-modern R&B acts of today is their uncanny ability to harness the slow-motion flow of molasses and lava set to music that is refreshingly original.
AFROMAN REMIXES HIS HIT SONG

The new version, which points many benefits of marijuana, including making learning fun, treating glaucoma and providing States with tax revenue, was created in support of marijuana legalization. Here’s a link to the music video, which features Afroman riding down an LA street on remote controlled couch smoking weed:

LOS ANGELES GIRL GROUP LEGENDS THE RED AUNTS RETURN
The Red Aunts are an all-female punk band that formed in 1991 in Long Beach, California, when Terri Wahl (guitar/vocals) recruited friends Kerry Davis (guitar/vocals), Debi Martini (bass/vocals), and Lesley Ishino (drums). Their brand of unfiltered music is toxic, taking a sharp claw to every riot grrrl cliché it can shred. After five albums, several years of touring, and a huge fan base, they called it quits in 1998. The girls recently decided it was time to wake people up and save the music with their unique form of ROCK. Their greatest hits compilation, ‘COME UP FOR A CLOSER LOOK’ will be released November 4th – a gatefold sleeve double album, complete with killer art and photos, plus liner notes by Red Aunts fan, Sasha Frere-Jones.
