BRIDGE NINE TO RELEASE DEBUT LP FROM VIOLENT SONS

Violent Sons features members that are no strangers to the New England hardcore scene: Sean Murphy (Verse), Mikey Belcastro (Product of Waste, Suicide Pact), Evan White (Raindance) and Andrew Fortin got together in late 2013 when Murphy and Belcastro finally sat down after about a year of talking about starting a band.  The two had “…dealt with a lot of similar things in life… mental illness, abuse, welfare, death, etc., so we wanted to use this project as a form of therapy for us and anyone else that might take something positive from a total negative”, Murphy commented.  And therapeutic it is – Violent Son’s debut LP Nothing As It Seems is a ferocious effort that would please fans of Verse’s ambitious trajectory, and yet, it is completely its own project for much of its blistering 22-minute length.  It’s a multifaceted debut that subtly twists punk’s heavier formula into new shapes and colors while retaining Murphy’s exasperated, incensed sociopolitical frustrations.

KATE KATE SHARES POP GEM “SADIE HAWKINS” WITH STEREOGUM

Katie Kate is a force. A dark horse with an extensive classical background, she channels her quirky, emotive lyrics through the lenses of hip hop by blending the swagger, attitude, and rhythms with an undeniable pop aura. Her forthcoming album Nation, set for release August 5th, was the result of a four-month onslaught that progressed from the original beats into something more earnest, raw, and exposed.  Refusing to retreat to more safe material, Kate instead chose to embrace the deeper elements, and developed material that is more honest, angry, and visceral than her previous release, yet still hallmarked with the accessibly and humor that made her earlier material shine.

LEON MARIN POSTS “THE GHETTO”

The song and video speak on/show Leon’s experiences growing up in his neighborhood. The whole essence of the kids is a memory of himself. To know that he grew up somewhat overcoming the lifestyle that may suck you in growing up is a blessing. The term “ghetto” basically is a place we can’t leave. The reason why the song is called that is because it speaks on a lot of the experience Leon has seen that others have not avoided because they couldn’t leave that mentality in the past.
