DUBSTEPPIN’ FROM SPACE: MEET CONVULSIC

Convlusic may be new to the scene, but he’s already well on his way to becoming well known. He’s already climbing to the top of SoundCloud and social media. His ReverbNation win recently put him on the map and things are just getting started. Here’s more from the dubstep master…

Skope: You’ve got a new e.p. titled “Love Space”, can you tell us what it’s about?

Convolsic:Yes. It’s very hard to say specifically what its about because it has emotion coming from every which way, and I always try to make every song completely unique, so that brings out even more emotion. If I had to pick I would say companionship, however I like to let the listener decide what they think it means… it’s funner that way :)

Skope: I hear alot of dubstep and bass, how would you describe your sound and how long have you been doing it?

Convolsic:I would say its Melodic Dubstep, based on what listeners have told me they think it is. To me I figure as long as I like it then there should be at least one other person in the world that will also! I started messing around with production in 2012 and have been hooked ever since.

Skope: How long does it take you to create a song from start to finish and how do you know when it’s done?

Convolsic: It depends on what I want for the track but usually it is around two to three weeks of solid work and I mean solid. It’s the craziest thing when a song is near completion, there is a certain point when you hear it just start flowing and ideas pour out so much that it’s almost like the track is making itself! I’m sure anyone who produces knows the feeling. For me though, its about feeling happy with it. If I am not 100 percent, I won’t release it.

Skope: I read you’ve recently gotten a publishing deal for your e.p., can you tell us a little about that?

Convolsic: Yes, actually I was selected through a contest from Reverbnation. Ever since then, it has been insane :)

Skope: What tools do you use for the type of music you do?

Convolsic: I use Macbook Pro, Axiom Pro 49 keyboard, KRK rokit 5 speakers, and Numark Mixdeck for playing shows. All of the above subject to change as electronic music is all about improvisation!

Skope: Are you a dj or producer or a bit of both?

Convolsic: I like to think of myself as a musician. I make songs, and then I play them :)

Skope: Do you perform live sets?

Convlsic: It is one of my favorite parts about making music. The only true way to connect with people who like your music is to play it for them!

Skope: Where do you see the future of electronic music heading?

Convolsic: It’s very hard to say because everyday there are what seems like 100 new genres that emerge- I think this is because of the endless possibilities of creativity in production. I would say it is moving to unity, or less of a separation of genres more than anything.

Skope: You’ve really climbed the ladder through Soundcloud, a feat in it’s own right, how did you manage that?

Convolsic: It has been non-stop work. Literally from the beginning I have told myself that it is fifty percent the music, and fifty percent promotion. With that, I have posted my sound cloud in every corner I could think of- put business cards in every store, I mean with the internet we are in the global market. Face-to-Face is a different story :)

Skope: Where can ppl find out more about Convolusic and hear some great filthy beats?

Convolsic: check out my website www.convulsic.com, there is also a submit track button. I am going to be featuring guest tracks on my featured friends section so anyone who wants can post any genre of electronic music, and since it is brand new will most likely be added :) I can’t guarantee it will be like that for much longer :)

If you love electronic music done right, be sure to check out http://www.convulsic.com, in the meantime you can hear it all on SoundCloud at www.soundcloud.com/convulsic/love-space.
