BRITNEY/ENRIQUE TOUR UPDATE

On Tuesday, Enrique Iglesias announced that he wouldn’t be touring with Britney Spears, just hours after she said that the two would be heading all over the U-S together this summer.     According to Billboard.biz, it seems that money is playing a big factor in things, as sources have said that Spears would be making “several times” more than Iglesias.   He also may not be comfortable with being thought of as Spears’ opening act.   However, if things get hashed out, there’s a chance Enrique still may tour with Britney. We’ll keep you posted as we hear more.

LAMBERT’S GLAM NATION LIVE IS NUMBER ONE

Adam Lambert’s first DVD, Glam Nation Live, claimed the top spot for its debut week on SoundScan’s Top Music Videos.   The former American Idol finalist’s CD/DVD sold 17-thousand units, making it the best debut release on the Music Videos chart so far this year.

ADELE SLIPS TO NUMBER THREE ON BILLBOARD CHART

Adele slipped a few placed on the Billboard 200 chart, but she still has nothing to be ashamed of.   The singer’s latest album, 21, is now sitting in third position, but she still managed to sell another 95-thousand copies.   That makes her just shy of 850-thousand units sold in the U-S alone, and she should be hitting Platinum status (one-million copies) any week now.  
SHAKIRA OFFICIALLY DATING SOCCER STAR

It’s been rumored for a long time, but it appears that it’s finally been confirmed that Shakira and soccer star Gerard Pique are dating.   The international icon posted a picture on her Twitter page of the two of them in a romantic pose, with the caption in Spanish “les presento a mi sol,” or “I present to you my sunshine.”   See the pic now at Twitter.com/Shakira.

JESSICA SIMPSON FOR X-FACTOR?

Could Jessica Simpson be a judge on the forthcoming American version of The X-Factor?   The former reality star told WWD that she has “definitely” been talked to about being on the show, and that she thinks “it would be a lot of fun.”   We’ll keep you posted as we hear more.

JUSTIN BIEBER LAWSUIT

Two artist managers have filed a lawsuit claiming that they are owed royalties from the hit Justin Bieber song “One Less Lonely Girl.”   According to Billboard, Vince Tate and Thomas Oliveria represent the songwriting team A-Rex, who are credited as a collaborator on the track.   The managers are saying that they should be entitled to ten-percent of the money that A-Rex got for their part in the song, or 200-thousand dollars.   Read more about the suit at Billboard.com.

WRITE A SONG FOR TAIO CRUZ TO SING ON IDOL

Ever wanted to have your song performed on American Idol?   Well now you’re going to have your chance, with some help from Taio Cruz.   According to a press release, the pop star and Coca-Cola are teaming up with fans to help write a song for the soft-drink company that will be performed by Taio during the finale of the hit FOX program on May 25th.   The contest kicks off today (3/31), and you can learn all about it at AmericanIdol.com.

TAYLOR SWIFT’S ONE TRACK MIND

Taylor Swift is continuing her whirlwind Speak Now World Tour in Europe, and fans can’t seem to get enough of her.   The tour is garnering Taylor rave reviews in Singapore, Belgium, Norway, and London, and is giving fans brand new songs from her latest album as well as familiar favorites.   When it comes to writing those hit songs for the fans, Taylor reveals she is very focused and has a one-track mind (See Related Cut #1).   The superstar is nominated for the coveted Entertainer of the Year at this year’s Academy of Country Music Awards, which air live from Las Vegas this Sunday at 8 PM Eastern on CBS.  

GAGA IS KEEPING BUSY

Lady Gaga is keeping busy.   The pop star just announced via her Twitter page that beginning next week, she is going to be “resurrecting” Transmission GagaVision, her old YouTube series that ran from 2008 and 2009.   And if that weren’t enough, Gaga is also going to be a fashion and art columnist for V Magazine.   Learn more at Twitter.com/LadyGaga.

RIHANNA TALKS SEX LIFE

Never one to bite her tongue, Rihanna spills about her sex life in the pages of Rolling Stone magazine. The pop princess revealed that she “loves to be tied up and spanked. I like to be whipped. And it’s funny that I care. CHRIS BROWN DEBUTS AT NUMBER ONE!

CIARA TALKS ABOUT HER MUSIC CAREER

SingersRoom.com caught up with Ciara to find out what her next move is to recover from the disappointing sales of her last album, Basic Instinct. Ci Ci explained that she’s in “the process of letting things fall how they are supposed to” and is taking time out for herself. Even though her Basic Instinct LP sold 37-thousand copies during its first week, she’s confident that things will turn around.

FANTASIA TO PERFORM ON AMERICAN IDOL

NELLY TALKS CELEBRITY SWEAT DVD

According to Billboard.com, Nelly is focusing on his workout DVD titled Celebrity Sweat. The rapper said of the fitness project that it’s “structured around my every day workouts.” Nelly was compelled to make the DVD because “child obesity is being overlooked — kids don’t get out and exercise like they used to, and that translates into their adulthoods.”

SELENA GOMEZ TALKS SELENA

Did you know that Selena Gomez is named after the late Mexican/American singer Selena Quintanilla-Pérez?   We caught up with the 18-year-old singer and actress, who confirmed that she was indeed named after the icon (See Related Cut #3).Surely she is.   Both Selenas were born in Texas.   Gomez was not even three years old with Selena was murdered back in 1995.  

TIDBITS:   Selena Quintanilla-Pérez was named Top Latin Artist of the 1990s by Billboard and had 14 top-ten hits on the Latin charts, including seven number one songs.   She sold over 21-million albums worldwide.   Selena was murdered at the age of 23 by the president of her fan club.   In 1997, Jennifer Lopez starred in the film Selena, based on the singer’s life.  
 
JEWEL’S DAD ADDED TO NEW DISCOVERY REALITY SHOW

Jewel’s not the only one with a reality show hitting TV soon. Her dad, Atz Kilcher, has joined the cast of Discovery’s Mountain Men of Alaska. His official website lists him as “Alaska’s foremost singer, songwriter, yodeling, story-telling recording artist.” Now, he’ll be showing off his skills in the wild as cameras document him hunting, fishing and living off the land on Mountain Men. Jewel’s reality-competition, Going Platinum, premieres on Bravo this summer.

TIDBIT: Jewel’s dad is also a jeweler.
