Lady Gaga kicked off the latest North American leg of her Monster Ball Tour at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec on Monday night.   Gaga’s little monsters braved harsh weather while waiting in long lines to get into the venue.   Many fans dressed up in leather and lace, stiletto heels, studded jackets, crowns and even Diet Coke-can hair curlers.   According to the vast majority of fans, the highlight of the show was the encore, when Gaga returned to the stage to perform “Bad Romance.”   Check out MTV.com for reactions from the show, including video of a couple that got engaged during the concert.

RIHANNA CANCELS SHOW IN SEATTLE

According to the Auburn Reporter, Rihanna was forced to cancel her July 2nd tour stop in Auburn, Washington. The singer was scheduled to take stage at White River Amphitheatre, but Live Nation explained in statement the date was scrapped due to “production changes.” The show opener of Ri Ri’s Last Girl On Earth tour will kick off July 4th in Vancouver, British Columbia.

TIDBIT This marks the third cancellation for Rihanna.   She also pulled the plug for stops in Phoenix and Dallas.

Since Rihanna hasn’t provided a detailed explanation for her cancellations, gossip sites are speculating that the singer is having trouble filling up venues.

BEYONCE ON FORBES CELEBRITY 100 LIST

Beyonce can definitely afford to take an extended break from music. According to Forbes’ Celebrity 100 list, Oprah Winfrey claimed number one spot with 315-million, but Jay-Z’s wife took second place for earning 87-million dollars in 2009. The entertainer’s global tour reportedly banked 85-million dollars in sales! Last year, Bey took fifth place…but we’re thinking it’s only a matter of time until she takes the top spot!

EMINEM ON TOP OF ITUNES CHART

Eminem tops both the iTunes singles chart as well as the album chart this week, with his new record Recovery.   His single, “Love the Way You Lie,” is the top song, displacing last week’s number one, “California Gurls,” from Katy Perry featuring Snoop Dogg.   B.o.B’s “Airplanes” featuring Hayley Williams of Paramore falls to number three followed by “Billionaire” from Travie McCoy featuring Bruno Mars and Usher’s “OMG” featuring will.i.am.   Last week’s top album, Thank Me Later, from Drake slides to number two followed by Miley Cyrus’ Can’t Be Tamed, The Roots’ How I Got Over and To The Sea from Jack Johnson.

JERMAINE JACKSON SUPPORTS CHRIS BROWN

Jermaine Jackson described Chris Brown’s Michael Jackson tribute performance during the 2010 BET Awards as a “spectacular moment.” The Jackson 5 member told Extra that Brown “deserved to perform because it’s healing for him. Diddy, Howard Stern and him were voted as the most popular choices for replacements, and he took more than half the vote, something he called “tremendous.”   Bret previously stated he would “love” to be a judge on AI.

NO MEET-AND-GREETS WITH COLBIE AT LILITH

John Mayer is apparently a pretty funny guy.   The singer-songwriter took the stage late last week at the Comedy Cellar in New York City for the first time since he tried it out four years ago and made some racially insensitive comments.   According to the New York Daily News, Mayer did much better this time, even making a joke about dating Kate Hudson.   A source told the paper that Mayer “was really nervous right before he went on and kept checking over his notes that he brought onstage,” but that he did a good job overall.

L-A MAYOR TALKS UNCERTAIN FUTURE OF ELECTRIC DAISY FESTIVAL

Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa (pron: Vee-ya-rye-go-sa) is questioning the future of the Electric Daisy Festival, after 65 arrests, 114 hospitalizations and 226 medical emergencies marred the event.   The festival, which celebrated its 14th year, had a record attendance of over 185-thousand people over the course of the two day rave.   The show was highlighted by sets from Black Eyed Peas’ will.i.am and Moby.   Mayor Villaraigosa told KCAL 9 News that the event should not have taken place on public property and that it is a “catastrophe waiting to happen.”   On Saturday afternoon, a crowd rushed the gates at the entrance of the festival and began climbing the fence to bypass security, accounting for many of the injuries.   Los Angeles police Chief Charlie Beck added that at the very least, they are going to look into limiting the event next year.
