TAYLOR SWIFT TO PERFORM AT GRAMMYS

It was just announced that Taylor Swift will be performing at the 52nd annual GRAMMY awards.   The country star, who garnered eight nominations, will also be a presenter at the show as well.   Only Beyonce got more nods than her with ten, and she will also be performing, along with the Black Eyed Peas, Maxwell and Lady Antebellum, with others sure to be announced in the New Year.   The show airs live on January 31st on CBS at 8 PM Eastern.   Learn more about the performers at GRAMMY.com.  

FRANTI’S “SAY HEY” GOES PLATINUM

Michael Franti not only scored his first Top 40 hit with the song “Say Hey (I Love You),” the track also gives the rocker his first Platinum single.   In a post on his official Web site, Franti said that he’s “grateful to all the fans, new and veteran.”   Learn more at MichaelFranti.com.

MILEY SETS ATTENDANCE RECORD AT O2 ARENA

Her hit may be called “Party in the USA,” but that didn’t stop the people in England from coming out to see Miley Cyrus perform.   According to ContactMusic.com, the Disney star broke the record for largest attendance ever at London’s O2 Arena.   More than 16-thousand people saw her perform, setting the record for the venue.    

T.I. RELEASED FROM PRISON!

XXLMag.com reports T.I. was released from prison yesterday afternoon. The emcee has been admitted into a halfway house in Atlanta, Georgia. His lawyer, Steve Sadow, confirmed the rapper will “spend somewhere between the next two or three months in a halfway house, ending his Bureau of Prison sentence.” In addition, Tip will be given more freedom and permission to leave during the day for “employment and medical reasons” just as long as he returns the same evening. He is expected to complete his sentence in March 2010.

KID CUDI GETS HANDCUFFED

During a police manhunt in Hollywood, Kid Cudi was wrongfully arrested at gunpoint by an LAPD officer who thought the rapper was a burglar. On Monday afternoon, the “Day N Nite” emcee was just leaving a video shoot when a police helicopter spotted Cudi’s vehicle which matched the description of a car used for the burglary. When authorities realized they had the wrong guy, Cudi and his entourage were released. NME.com reports he has no hard feelings because he knows the cops were jus doing their job.  

Someone in the emcee’s crew told TMZ “This is what you get for being black and driving around L.A.” Cudi told NME, “We’re in L-A, it’s a rowdy place in the United States, you know? And a lot of sh*t goes down. And these cops have to use force. So it’s, like, I understand that they were doing their job. I just wish we weren’t in that place at that time.”

SEAN KINGSTON HEADS NEW PETA CAMPAIGN

Sean Kingston has become the latest spokesperson for Peta’s new anti-chaining campaign. The “Face Drop” crooner has signed on because he loves his dogs and doesn’t believe in chaining them up.
