JOHN MAYER TOPS BILLBOARD ALBUM CHART

John Mayer’s Battle Studies debuts at number one on the Billboard album chart, selling over 285-thousand copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan.   Andrea Bocelli holds down number two for a second straight week with “My Christmas,” while Norah Jones bows at number three with Fall.   Casting Crowns’ new album, Until The Whole Word Hears, opens at number four, 50 Cent’s latest record, Before I Self Destruct, drops at number five and Justin Beiber’s debut My World starts at number six.   Michael Jackson’s This Is It falls three spots to number seven, the New Moon soundtrack climbs two notches to number eight, while Carrie Underwood’s Play On falls six spots to number nine.   Taylor Swift’s Fearless drops five slots to round out the top ten.     The self-titled debut from American Idol-winner Kris Allen lands at number 11, Them Crooked Vultures’ debut at number 12 and Leona Lewis’ Echo bows at number 13.   Last week’s number one album, Bon Jovi’s The Circle, drops 17 notches to number 18.   Other notable debuts include OneRepublic at number 19 with Waking Up and Janet Jackson’s #1s at number 20.  

BEYONCE SCORES TOP SONG OF THE DECADE

Beyonce’s hit “Crazy In Love” has been voted the greatest track of the decade by NME.   The 2003 single, which features Jay-Z, beat out MGMT’s “Time To Pretend,” The Strokes’ “Hard To Explain” and MIA’s “Paper Planes.”   Other songs on the best of the decade list include OutKast’s “Hey Ya” and “Mrs. Jackson,” “Umbrella” from Rihanna and “Maps” by Yeah Yeah Yeahs.  

BEYONCE’S “VIDEO PHONE” GETS PARODIED

We’ve seen it before with Beyonce’s “Single Ladies,” millions of people trying to copy her dance moves. Now, one of her fans named Cubby has been the first to release a parody video of “Video Phone.” This is well worth the watch!

RIHANNA’S PROJECTED ALBUM SALES

According to Billboard.com, Rihanna’s projected album sales are not looking good. Despite heavy promotion and numerous television appearances, the singer’s Rated R disc is estimated to sell 162-thousand copies in its first week. This news comes just after her label had the album reduced from $3.99 to 99 cents. We won’t know the definite sales numbers until the official SoundScan report is released next week.

KID CUDI RECORDS WITH PHARRELL

Kid Cudi has posted a new picture with Pharrell Williams in the studio via his official blog. The rapper will be recording new material with the mega producer on his upcoming sophomore album titled Cudder. Fans can expect the new disc to drop early next year. In addition, the rapper’s debut album, Man On The Moon: End Of The Day, is in stores now.

According to RapRadar.com, Eminem has released the real tracklisting to his upcoming Relapse: Refill album. Be sure to get your copy when it drops on December 22nd.

USHER AND T.I. COLLABORATE

Perhaps the delay of Usher’s album was a good thing, giving him more time to create quality records. A new record called “In My Bag” featuring T.I. has leaked from the singer’s upcoming project. Rap-Up.com reports the Rico Love-penned track is said to be featured on Usher’s Raymond vs. Raymond album, which will now drop in 2010.

FALL OUT BOY MEMBERS IN NEW METAL BAND

According to RockSound.tv, Fall Out Boy members Joe Trohman and Andy Hurley have teamed up with Scott Ian of Anthrax and Keith Buckley of Every Time I Die to form the new metal band The Damned Things. Ian told RockSound that they all have started working on songs together but because they’re pretty busy in their “day jobs” it’s unclear when they’ll all have time to record a full disc.

JOHN MAYER TWEETS ABOUT BATTLE STUDIES

Battle Studies is going be the number one album in the country come next week, and John Mayer took to his Twitter account to thank all of his fans.   The singer-songwriter wrote that he thanks everyone “from the bottom of [his] heart.”

KATY PERRY NEW ALBUM UPDATE

FANTASIA DENIES DATING A MARRIED MAN

Fantasia spoke to Honey magazine recently and addressed the rumors that she’s involved with a married man. The American Idol singer stated, “There’s no boo in my life, I’m married to my career.” In addition, Fanny explains she is not dating nor involved with a man named Antwaun Cook. Speculation rose when the singer was photographed with a new tattoo on her chest that reads “Cook.”

25 SONGS ADDED TO GRAMMY HALL OF FAME

The Recording Academy has added some songs to their GRAMMY Hall of Fame, bringing the total number of titles in the collection to 851.   The latest additions include The Beach Boys’ “California Girls,” Janis Joplin’s “Pearl,” The Doors’ “Riders on the Storm” and Bob Marley’s “Catch a Fire.”   James Brown, Louis Armstrong and George Carlin also had material added to the Hall.   You can see all 25 of the new additions at the GRAMMY Museum in L-A.   Learn more at GRAMMY.com.  

RICHIE SAMBORA HONORED

Woodbridge, New Jersey honored Richie Sambora this week.   The town is where the Bon Jovi guitarist grew up and according to the Associated Press, on Tuesday, they named a street in his honor.   Over the years, Sambora has donated to his old community, helping a local teen with a brain tumor and financing a weight room at his alma mater, Woodbridge High School.   In fact, the newly named Richie Sambora Way leads to the school.
