OWL CITY TOPS BILLBOARD HOT 100 CHART

Owl City jumps six spots to top the Billboard Hot 100 chart with “Fireflies.” The success of the song is spurring sales of the band’s debut album, Ocean Eyes, as it has climbed into the top ten on the Billboard album chart.   Last week’s number one song, Jay Sean’s “Down,” falls two slots to number three, leaving Jason DeRulo in the runner-up spot for a second week with “Whatcha Say.” Miley Cyrus’ “Party In The U.S.A.” slips to number four, while “Run This Town” by Jay-Z, Rihanna and Kanye West slides one notch to number five.   Lady GaGa remains at number six with “Papparazzi” and the Black Eyed Peas climb two spots to number seven with “Meet Me Halfway” and also fall one spot to number nine with “I Gotta Feeling.” Rounding out the top 10 are Britney Spears’ “3,” which slides three spots to number eight, and Beyonce’s “Sweet Dreams” at number 10.

MILEY STALKER WILL NOT FACE CHARGES

The man accused of harassing Miley Cyrus will not face charges for attempted stalking after a grand jury ruled there was insufficient evidence to indict him.   According to ContactMusic.com, Mark McLeod was arrested twice this summer for hounding the Disney star on the Georgia set of her latest movie, The Last Song.   He was taken into custody in August for making “inappropriate comments” to young Cyrus fans.   McLeod had also told officers he was engaged to the young star and that she sent him secret messages via her TV show, Hannah Montana.   The case will go no further after a grand jury at Chatham County State Court insisted there was a lack of evidence against McLeod, who has been held in custody since August.

BRITNEY DEBUTS NEW VIDEO TODAY

Britney Spears debuted her new video for “3” today.   The singer blogged that she would be posting pics from the shoot on her site leading up to the premiere.   Check out BritneySpears.com to see the new vid.  

LEONA LEWIS’ BAD OCTOBER

Leona Lewis has to be happy that October is coming to a close as it’s been a rough month for the “Bleeding Love” singer.   At the top of the month, she was attacked while at a book signing in London, and then earlier this week while on a promotional trip to Holland, British paper The Sun reports that Lewis got stuck in an elevator for almost a half-hour.   According to ContactMusic.com, Lewis was “shocked and upset” but overall she was fine.

MADONNA GETS SOME HIGH PRAISE

We reported that Madonna went to visit the orphanage in Malawi from where she adopted son David Banda, and the pop star got some pretty high praise while there.   According to ContactMusic.com, a child said to her, “You are our God. Where could we have been without you?”   In the past, Madge has said that coming to Malawi has taught her “a lot.”

FRAY FRONTMAN SINGS NATIONAL ANTHEM

How did the Denver Nuggets kick off the 2009-2010 basketball season?   With a performance of the National Anthem by their native son, frontman for The Fray Isaac Slade.   The group’s Twitter page has a pic of the singer doing his thing, so see it now at Twitter.com/TheFray.

GWEN AND GAVIN GO PUMPKIN SHOPPING

Gavin Rossdale and Gwen Stefani had a busy day on Tuesday.   The rockstar couple took their two kids, Kingston and Zuma, to a pumpkin patch to pick some out for Halloween.   PerezHilton.com has some pictures of the adorable family, so head there to see them now.

GAGA TALKS ABOUT GETTING A NEW TATTOO

Lady Gaga’s father has recovered from open-heart surgery, and now it appears that the “Just Dance” singer is going to get a tattoo of his likeness as a tribute to him.   According to ContactMusic.com, Gaga said that she’s going to get “a heart that says ‘Dad’ in it.”   She also said that when she told her father this, he got “all teary-eyed.”

LINKIN PARK WORKING ON NEW ALBUM

According to an interview with MTV News, Linkin Park is currently in the studio working on a new album. Singer Chester Bennington told MTV News that the band has “a s**t ton of music” for the follow-up to 2007’s Minutes to Midnight. Once again, Rick Rubin will serve as producer. So when can fans expect the new music? Bennington predicts by June 2010. For now, fans can check out his new band, Dead By Sunrise, whose debut album, Out of Ashes, is out now.

TEN MILLION TUNE INTO ONLINE U2 CONCERT

According to Variety, a whopping ten-million people turned on their computers to watch U2’s Rose Bowl 360 Tour on You Tube this past Sunday. U2 will continue touring North America next year, starting off on June 6th in Anaheim, California.

PETE WENTZ LOSES BET, GETS GABE SAPORTA’S FACE TATTOO

Pete Wentz has lost a bad bet to Cobra Starship frontman Gabe Saporta. Pete promised Saporta if the “Good Girls Go Bad” song went platinum, Gabe could pick out a tattoo for the Fall Out Boy bassist. Now, Pete is sporting a tattoo of Gabe Saporta’s face with the inscription “Gabey Baby Made Me Go Bad.” Wentz and Saporta have been in a prank war for months, much of which has been documented on Twitter. BABY BRONX TO DRESS UP AS “SPONGEBOB” FOR HALLOWEEN

Halloween is this weekend and it’s one of Pete Wentz’s favorite holidays. So what will he be dressing his 11-month son Bronx up as this year? He says “SpongeBob Squarepants” is one idea because his son loves the cartoon character. Pete even says he’ll go as “Spongebob’s sidekick ‘Patrick’” to take his son trick-or-treating.

CHRIS BROWN DENIES NEW GIRLFRIEND RUMORS

Shortly after TMZ reported Chris Brown has a new girlfriend — Natalie Nunn from Oxygen’s Bad Girl’s Club reality show — Breezy claimed otherwise. The pop star tweeted: “TMZ…omg…. You guys have nothing better to do. And by the way. I don’t mess wit that girl.” The site had reported the two were dating for several weeks now. Apparently that is not the case.

EMINEM NEGOTIATES UPCOMING HORROR FLICK

According to ShockTillYouDrop.com, Eminem is “in talks” to release a series of horror films titled Shady Talez. If all goes as planned, the emcee will play multiple roles in the flick, which pays homage to classics like Christine, Aliens and The Lost Boys. We’ll keep you posted with further updates.

FOO FIGHTERS ARE STORYTELLERS

The Foo Fighters taped their Vh1 Storytellers show at Sony Studios in Culver City, California on Wednesday night.   The band   opened with “One By One” and steamrolled through a set of their hits like “Big Me,” “Learn to Fly,” “Times Like These,” “Best of You,” and two new songs “Wheels” and “Work Forward.”   Dave Grohl shared stories in between songs and answered questions from fans in the audience.   The frontman told a great story about how Bob Dylan approached him and asked him to show him how to play “Everlong” because he wanted to start covering the song.   To hear more great stories, tune into the Foo Fighter’s Vh1 Storytellers which airs on Vh1 on November 27th at 11 PM.

TAYLOR AND TAYLOR’S NIGHT OUT

Yesterday, pictures and footage surfaced of Taylor Swift and Taylor Lautner leaving Ruth Chris’ steakhouse in Beverly Hills. They left the restaurant in Lautner’s Audi R8. According to TMZ, the two Taylors were seen shopping at Alive & Olivia.  

TAYLOR SWIFT GIVES ELLEN A THANK YOU GIFT

Taylor Swift appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show yesterday and presented the host with a thank you gift. DeGeneres threw Taylor an album release party when Fearless went on sale almost a year ago. Since then, the record has been certified five times Platinum. Taylor feels DeGeneres had something to do with that so she gave her a plaque commemorating the hit album. Also during the show, DeGeneres showed several pictures of Taylor with Taylor Lautner while trying to get Swift to acknowledge the rumored relationship between the two young celebrities. One picture was from a scene of the two kissing in the upcoming film Valentine’s Day. Degeneres then asked, “Is he a good kisser?” Taylor paused in shock and then responded, “What?” to which everyone laughed at her attempt to change the subject.
