MURPHY LEE OFFERS UP NEW SINGLE “MY SHOES”

November 5, 2008

leemurphy1_phixr.jpgMurphy Lee’s latest single “My Shoes” is exactly what people have come to expect from the emcee- a catchy tune filled with Lee’s signature swagger. The track is about his kicks (both on his car and on his person) and features slick production work with snappy snares and a synth-infused melody. Murphy Lee encourages you to “party like a rock star” while he does his thing, but good luck keeping your eyes off his custom gear.

Never one to brag, Murphy tells it like it is: “Girls wanna cruise / Dudes all wishin’ they could walk in my shoes.”

AKON FREES HIS SOUND AND GOES EURO

November 5, 2008

Fans that are used to Akon’s sound should get ready because the singer’s about to go in a different direction.  He told Billboard.com that his upcoming album, Freedom, will contain some signature Konvict tunes, but he’s adding the “Euro-club sound” into the mix.  The CD will include a dance track featuring T-Pain called “Holla Holla” but Akon’s urban audience shouldn’t be too worried as his second single from the disc, “I’m So Paid,” will feature Lil Wayne and Young Jeezy.  Kardinall Offishal and Colby O’Donis also appear on the album.   Akon’s Freedom will hit stores on December 2nd and he’s expected to kick off a tour in February.

COULD LED ZEPPELIN LEAD TO A CREED REUNION?

November 5, 2008

What do Led Zeppelin and Creed have in common?  A lot more than you’d think.  As we’ve reported, Zep is considering touring without frontman Robert Plant.  In his stead would be Alter Bridge singer Myles Kennedy.  Alter Bridge is composed mainly of former members of Creed and without Kennedy on board, the three ex-Creed musicians might reunite with singer Scott Stapp.  According to Billboard, there’d be a nice amount of cash in a reunion and neither Stapp on his own nor Alter Bridge have come anywhere close to the success of Creed.  But all of this is just conjecture.  Zep haven’t confirmed a tour, Kennedy hasn’t been named the replacement singer and there has been no word from any of the members of Creed.

HINDER EXPLAINS THE BALLAD APPEAL

November 5, 2008

While they’ve got a reputation for partying hard and other rock star antics, Hinder may be best known for the megahit ballad “Lips of an Angel” from their debut Extreme Behavior. Singer Austin Winkler explained the apparent contradiction to the New York Post. He said, “We have the rock ‘n’ roll fantasy world that we get to live out on the road, but there are those days and nights that inspire you to write sappy love songs sometimes.” As for why people may prefer the sappy stuff, Winkler surmised, “The thing is, we write from real experiences, and it just so happens to be in the ballads that the real experiences shine through a little bit more than the rock tracks.” Check out the latest ballads from Hinder now; their new album, Take It to the Limit, came out yesterday.
