Legendary singer/songwriter James Taylor debuted at #4 on Billboard’s Top 200 Albums Chart with his latest album, Covers (Hear Music). The album sold 94,500 units in its first week of release and is currently available in traditional retail outlets as well as Starbucks company-operated locations throughout the U.S. and Canada.
The stellar debut capped off a month of highlights for James Taylor as he launched Good Morning America’s “Whistle Stop ‘08″ tour in his home state of Massachusetts; performed on The Colbert Report as well as The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. Taylor’s interviews and performances include upcoming appearances on Tavis Smiley, Charlie Rose and The Late Show with David Letterman.
The Boston Globe praised the new album by noting that, “to open James Taylor’s new Covers album and settle back to listen to his voice is like uncorking a fine wine that has been deepened and enriched by age.”

Chop Shop Records and Atlantic Records have announced the release of “TWILIGHT—ORIGINAL MOTION PICTURE SOUNDTRACK,” the musical companion to the upcoming Summit Entertainment film. Due in stores and online on November 4th, the entire album features songs that will appear in the movie, highlighted by Paramore’s brand new single, “Decode.” TWILIGHT is slated to open in theatres nationwide on November 21st.

With much anticipation, U-N-I’s “Soul Hop” music video premieres today, Wednesday, October 8th on MTV2, playing throughout the day. Featured as the Sucker Free Drop during Sucker Free Week on MTV2, “Soul Hop” will also be on MTVu’s hourly rotation hitting college campuses across the nation. Director, Tomas Whitmore, also worked on U-N-I’s “K.R.E.A.M.” and “Beautiful Day” music videos receiving heavy play from MTV2 as well. The new video certainly reflects the powerful combination of U-N-I’s stylistic flow and Whitmore’s talent for visual aesthetics.

Having received confirmed press reports that John McCain has been using Foo Fighters’ “My Hero” as the latest in a number of unauthorized theme songs at his campaign rallies without seeking permission from the band, its management, record label or publisher, Foo Fighters have issued the following statement: This isn’t the first time the McCain campaign has used a song without making any attempt to get approval or permission from the artist. It’s frustrating and infuriating that someone who claims to speak for the American people would repeatedly show such little respect for creativity and intellectual property. The saddest thing about this is that ‘My Hero’ was written as a celebration of the common man and his extraordinary potential. To have it appropriated without our knowledge and used in a manner that perverts the original sentiment of the lyric just tarnishes the song. We hope that the McCain campaign will do the right thing and stop using our song–and start asking artists’ permission in general!
