July 23, 2008

Singer Bobby Valentino has left his Ludacris family at DTP Records and is now signed with EMI Records. Though he was dropped from Def Jam, he is starting Blu Kollar Dreams for his new label. According to BallerStatus.com, Bobby wanted to venture out and stated, “Now I have the opportunity to step out on faith and use the knowledge and experience that I have gained to take my career to the next level.” Valentino also admits that he is still close to Luda’s camp.  The singer released an iTunes EP titled Come With Me that you can check out on his MySpace page.

QUOTED: FALL FOR SECONDHAND SERENADE

July 23, 2008

Secondhand Serenade is moving up the charts with the song, “Fall For You.”  John Vesely created the one-man band and says you may want to listen to the lyrics a little more closely.

“It sounds like it would be a happy song, which it unfortunately… it’s kind of a bittersweet song. It’s about the deterioration of a relationship to a point where, it’s either something has to be done or the relationship just has to be cut off.”

You can find “Fall For You” on Secondhand Serenade’s album, A Twist in My Story.

DETOX IS ALMOST HERE

July 23, 2008

According to USA Today, Dr. Dre is almost done with his long awaited Detox album. Dre himself told the paper that the disc is starting to take shape and we could possibly see it this year. The producer said, “I’m just now — over the last couple of months — starting to feel that it’s going to be right and it’s something I can be proud of, and everybody is going to love it. In a perfect world, I’m shooting for a November or December release.” If Detox does come out in 2008, it will have been nine years since we saw an album from Dre. And we may not see another for a really long time. He told the paper, “I’m going to put this record out, promote it, tour and then become a hermit. I’m going to stay in the studio and produce.”

QUOTED: NE-YO MAY COLLAB WITH FAB

July 23, 2008

Ne-Yo’s new album has been pushed back to August 5th.  Billboard.com said the reason for the two month delay was so the singer could complete additional songs for the album.  Now we’re not saying this is why the album is delayed but a while back one rumor that was going around was about a Ne-Yo/Fabolous collaboration.  Ne-Yo spoke to MTV News about the rumor.

“We’ve been talking about doing some stuff you know. Me and Fab for what ever reason, our energies you know, together make a lot of sense you know what I’m saying, it sounds good. Our voices sound good together. It works out so who knows, you know?”

Ne-Yo went on to say that even though other collabs didn’t work out for him, it doesn’t mean he won’t try one with Fabolous.

“Jay and I tried it you know and for what ever reasons it didn’t exactly go the way it was supposed to go so who knows, maybe we will try it. I know we have definitely been talking about it but you know nothing is set in stone yet so don’t hold your breath waiting on that album but don’t assume that it’s just not going to happen. It’s possible.”

We’ll keep you posted.  Ne-Yo’s new album called Year of the Gentleman will hit stores August 5th.

West and MTV’s own Sway Calloway give viewers a chance to see the struggles and painful challenges that vets face when coming back home. West rewarded their service with generous gifts.
