ROB THOMAS’ BAND BEING SUED
July 2, 2008
If an upcoming lawsuit ends up being expensive, drummers may stop throwing their sticks into the audience at shows. According to TMZ, Rob Thomas’ solo band is being sued by a woman who claims the kitman tossed a stick into the crowd at a gig in 2005 and it hit her in the face, causing a herniated disk. Her husband, who was at the show, alleges that he’s been dealing with “the loss of his wife’s services, support, consortium and the care and comfort of her society.” As of press, there was no word from Rob’s people.

PHARRELL TO REMOVE TATTOOS?
July 2, 2008
According to London’s Daily Mirror, Pharrell is ready to remove his tattoos in order to, well… get new ones. The rapper/producer said he found a place in North Carolina that grows your own skin in a jar and then attaches it to your existing epidermis. The procedure is very expensive, but Pharrell said it was worth it because, “I got fire on my arms, I don’t need fire on my arms! I’m a grown man.” And after the graft is complete, he said, “When it has healed you can go get whatever tattoo you want.”
QUOTED: NE-YO EXPLAINS “CLOSER”
July 2, 2008
Ne-Yo latest single is called “Closer.” The singer described the song to MTV News.
“‘Closer’ is a song about being in the club. It’s a club record. It’s slightly left of what it is I normally do. You can almost call it a dance record. I’m a lover of melody, music in all aspects of music. I’ve been on that kick lately, listening to a lot of European stuff. And I dig a lot of it. So I decided to try it and it worked.”
Ne-Yo recently went on tour with Alicia Keys and Jordin Sparks.

GYM CLASS HEROES GET ARRESTED BUT STILL SET ALBUM DATE
July 2, 2008
Gym Class Heroes frontman Travis McCoy got into some trouble Tuesday night on the St. Louis, Missouri stop of the Warped Tour. According to RollingStone.com, he was arrested on one charge of third-degree assault. A black audience member near the front row called the singer a racial slur after the group finished their first song called “Peace Sign.” The man called McCoy a “f***ing ignorant n***er.” When security was removing him from the crowd, McCoy reached down and broke his microphone over the man’s head. The singer immediately apologized for his reaction and said it wasn’t representative of him as a person. He said, “I’m sorry. But when someone calls you something that ignorant and that offensive, you have to bash their head in with a microphone.” The audience cheered as the man in question was carried away by security. McCoy was arrested onstage at the end of his set. He was released early yesterday morning on 500 dollars bond.
GYM CLASS HEROES SET RELEASE DATE
In happier Gym Class news, the group’s third album, The Quilt, will hit stores September 9th. The CD’s first single is called “Cookie Jar” and will be released this month. Special guests on the album include Busta Rhymes, Estelle and Daryl Hall. It includes production by The-Dream, Cool & Dre and Fall Out Boy frontman Patrick Stump.
