¡FORWARD, RUSSIA! NEW ALBUM STREAM HERE
May 14, 2008
“Life Processes” is a fully realized concept album – with each song describing a particular facet of life. “The themes are universal – fear, love, hate, pride, nervousness, confusion and finally acceptance,” says singer Tom Woodhead. “There is a beginning, a middle, and an end, in a literary sense as well as a musical one.”
Recorded in Seattle during 2007 and produced by Matt Bayles (Blood Brothers, Pearl Jam, Minus The Bear, Mastodon), the album finds the band honing their eruptive sound. The result is a cohesive, intricate and expertly layered experience. “Life Processes” also sees ¡Forward, Russia! embracing song titles, a bold move for a band whose songs have previously only been referred to by number (full track list next page).
As a band, ¡Forward, Russia” are still in the early stages of what promises to be a very long life cycle. Their debut record, “Give Me A Wall” (2006) met with critical and commercial success in the band’s native country, spawning two UK top-40 singles. In the US, critics were equally impressed; with the New York Times calling the band “post punk resurrected anew,” Nylon Magazine saying “¡Forward, Russia! rocks!” and Alternative Press selecting ¡Forward, Russia! as a “band to watch” while saying “The true genius of ¡Forward, Russia! lies not in daft punctuation, but in deft punk elation.”
