¡FORWARD, RUSSIA! NEW ALBUM STREAM HERE
May 14, 2008
“Life Processes” is a fully realized concept album – with each song describing a particular facet of life. “The themes are universal – fear, love, hate, pride, nervousness, confusion and finally acceptance,” says singer Tom Woodhead. “There is a beginning, a middle, and an end, in a literary sense as well as a musical one.”
Recorded in Seattle during 2007 and produced by Matt Bayles (Blood Brothers, Pearl Jam, Minus The Bear, Mastodon), the album finds the band honing their eruptive sound. The result is a cohesive, intricate and expertly layered experience. “Life Processes” also sees ¡Forward, Russia! embracing song titles, a bold move for a band whose songs have previously only been referred to by number (full track list next page).
As a band, ¡Forward, Russia” are still in the early stages of what promises to be a very long life cycle. Their debut record, “Give Me A Wall” (2006) met with critical and commercial success in the band’s native country, spawning two UK top-40 singles. In the US, critics were equally impressed; with the New York Times calling the band “post punk resurrected anew,” Nylon Magazine saying “¡Forward, Russia! rocks!” and Alternative Press selecting ¡Forward, Russia! as a “band to watch” while saying “The true genius of ¡Forward, Russia! lies not in daft punctuation, but in deft punk elation.”

STOLI’S IDEA: A RECORD STORE IN A KIOSK
May 14, 2008
So I was sitting up the other night just having a few Bud Lights listening to music on my ZUNE outside on the porch. I began to think about digital music distribution and how my computer is like a mini record store in that I can buy albums and singles from the ZUNE marketplace from my home. Then it hit me…
Breathe Carolina Sign With Rise Records
May 14, 2008
Breathe Carolina, the Denver-based electronic techno pop dynamic duo, Kyle and Dave have signed with Oregon-based record label, Rise Records and will release their debut CD, It’s Classy, Not Classic on September 16.
Named after a recurring dream, Breathe Carolina only recently began their musical adventure. The two who had both been in other bands met in the Denver music scene and quickly became friends. However, it was Denver’s infamous weather that forged their musical bond. While snowed in during a blizzard, Kyle and Dave wrote their first song and Breathe Carolina was formed. More songs followed and were posted on their MySpace site where the band has developed a strong following with over 3.7 million plays. They are also in the Top 10 of MySpace’s Top Indie Artists chart and in the Top 10 of Purevolume’s Electronica chart.
Breathe Carolina were brought to the attention of Craig Ericson, Founder/President of Rise Records by their manager, Eric Rushing, The Artery Foundation. Immediately upon hearing a few songs, Ericson offered them a deal. Breathe Carolina are booked worldwide by The Agency Group, David Galea (North America, South America, Australia and the Pacific Rim) and Sean Goulding (Europe).
Breathe Carolina are currently touring and previewing music from their self-produced forthcoming CD, It’s Classy, Not Classic. The band recently performed at the Bamboozle in East Rutherford, NJ and this month, they are touring with such artists as The White Tie Affair, A Cursive Memory, The Medic Droid, and The Millionaires. Touring will continue through-out the summer.

VOLBEAT - ROCK THE REBEL/METAL THE DEVIL
May 14, 2008
This group has the necessary elements exhibited by other successful metal bands. Sometimes they remind you of Sabbath, and other times the more progressive speed rock bass drum pedal groups. Denmark’s answer to metal mania has arrived with a very interesting release. The unique blend of early rock and rockabilly mixed with some punk influence and a metal overtone is unique to say the least. It’s a bit like NIN and Sabbath meet Brian Setzer, Johnny Cash, The Ramones and The Reverend Horton Heat.
The Garden’s Tale is a good track, starting off slow and melodic, and then running full out. Sad Man’s Tongue starts off in a rockabilly style like Folsom Prison before it hits the gas pedal. A very unique and cool track. Singer/guitarist Michael Poulson has a booming on track voice capable of just about any genre of music. The ability to combine good melodies with metal is actually a great accomplishment. Parts of what the band does in combining melodies, riffs, and song structure, parallels things that worked for groups like Queen, Metallica, Dio, Iron Maiden, etc. Guitarist Thomas Bredahl has the chops for rock, country, or metal. He would have been at home playing in the band Boy Howdy.
If you’re a metal maniac, or a rocker with an edge, you will find this offering interesting. There are various videos and live versions of them posted on You Tube.
