NEW VIDEO & ALBUM FROM JEALOUS GIRLFRIENDS HERE
April 30, 2008
The Jealous Girlfriends make it work. The Brooklyn four-piece pull together the tunefulness of Anglo New Wave and BritPop, the aggression and energy of Washingtonian indie rock – both district and state – and infuse it all with a little soul, working an alchemy that transforms these base musical elements into songs crackling with tension and excitement that are instantly memorable while revealing something new with every listen. Self Titled LP On Good Fences June 17th.

BOSTON NATIVES TAB THE BAND NEW MP3 HERE
April 30, 2008
Their sophmore release retains the same rough and tumble nature of the first one. It sounds like a real band using real instruments recorded in an organic way. On this second release, the guys stretched the spectrum, some songs heavier and some more poppy.

Matt Zane Donates His Hair To Locks Of Love
April 30, 2008
It’s true. Matt Zane has donated over 17 inches of his trademark hair to the non-profit organization Locks Of Love. Locks of Love provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children under age 18 suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis. They meet a unique need for children by using donated hair to create the highest quality hair prosthetics.
Their mission is to return a sense of self, confidence and normalcy to children suffering from hair loss by utilizing donated ponytails to provide the highest quality hair prosthetics to financially disadvantaged children.
“People have identified who I am as my long hair for years. Something that I needed because it was expected of me and for awhile I have fallen into that trap. Recently I felt like I’ve entered a new chapter in my life and wanted to let go of certain expectations that people had. I was told about Locks Of Of Love and thought it was a great idea. I am glad some good can come of this considering all the hate mail I will get from girls on MySpace.” Says Zane
If you happen to be one of many woman upset by Zane’s decision you can still see him and his hair in all it’s glory on his latest movie Radium Volume #2 coming in May through Evolution Erotica.

NEW ALBUM AND BOOK COMING FROM ROBERT POLLARD IN JUNE
April 30, 2008
Robert Pollard’s lone solo release for 2008, “Robert Pollard is Off to Business,” and the first album on newly founded Guided By Voices Inc. label arrives in stores this June. A hardcover, coffee table book comes on the heels of the new album with Town of Mirrors: The Reassembled Imagery of Robert Pollard arriving in stores on Aug. 6 from Fantagraphics.
In addition to being a prolific songwriter/recording artist, Pollard is a gifted and prolific visual artist, working mostly in the medium of collage. His work has been exhibited at Michael Imperioli’s Studio Dante in New York and the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, OH. He has created the covers to almost every Guided By Voices record and countless other Pollard-related releases. Town of Mirrors collects the very best of Pollard’s visual art and lyrics/poetry.
Featuring over 180 of Pollard’s favorite collages, hand-picked by the artist, as well as over a dozen new collages produced exclusively for this collection, Town of Mirrors is the first comprehensive collection of Pollard’s visual art ever released. Pollard’s collages are the visual equivalent of his poetic and imagistic lyrics, surreal and reminiscent of the collages of Winston Smith.
