Story of the Year headed back in to the studio to write and record their second full-length album. By that summer, they had completed what proved to be a more focused, mature record, representing a new level of musicianship and songwriting for the band. They called it In The Wake Of Determination. Immediately after finishing, they began touring in support of the record, which was released in October of 2005. Touring for In The Wake Of Determination brought Story of the Year to new fans, new places, and some of the biggest, most intense crowds to date. As always, cameras rolled and captured the experiences along the way. Our Time Is Now is the story of those two years. It’s a two-part feature including a never-before-seen look into the band’s writing and recording process, and a home video style documentary of life on the road.

Beginning in the West with David Dondero, Nik will eventually wind his way east, hooking up with Rilo Kiley in the mid-west, and culminating June 2nd with a show at Terminal 5 in New York City. Then after a few solo dates, he’ll hook up with Jonathan Rice and Maria Taylor to do another loop back around the country.

Atmosphere’s new album When Life Gives You Lemons, You Paint That Shit Gold came in at #5 on this week’s Billboard Top 200, selling 36,526 copies! The chart position and the sales mark the highest one week totals in the 11 year history of Atmosphere and their label, Rhymesayers. When Life Gives You Lemons… nearly doubled the first week number of Atmosphere’s last album, You Can’t Imagine How Much Fun We’re Having, which sold 18,549 in week one, good for a #66 debut back in October of 2005.
Tantric made their triumphant return to Billboard’s Top 200 this week as The End Begins debuted at #91 with 6,689 units scanned. “Down and Out,” the first single off The End Begins is currently at #21 on the Active Rock BDS chart and on its way up thanks so great support from KUPD/Phoenix, WRIF/Detroit, WIYY/Baltimore, KOMP/Las Vegas, WRZX/Indianapolis, WXDX/Pittsburgh, Music Choice, Sirius & XM.
DONITA SPARKS & THE STELLAR MOMENTS TOUR DATES

Donita Sparks front person for the seminal rock band L7 announced today her first headlining tour with her band The Stellar Moments this Summer in support of her debut solo record Transmiticate, released on her own label, SparksFly and distributed through Redeye.

The tour begins June 6, 2008 at Maxwell’s in Hoboken, N.J. and is precipitated by two Southern California dates in late May. Prior to the release of Transmiticate Sparks hit the road for the first time as a solo artist with The Donnas for a national tour in 2007. Sparks and her band headed to Brazil earlier this year for her first tour of the country since L7 toured with Nirvana, and the crowds went just as wild. While this first leg of the Sparks’ tour will primarily focus on the East Coast and Midwest, a full West Coast tour in July is planned. Confirmed dates include:

Atco Records, an imprint of Rhino Entertainment, announces the May 13 release of JUST ME, the first new studio album from R&B legend Keith Sweat since his 2002 Rebirth set. The original “new jack” hitmaker, who celebrated 20 years as a chart artist at the end of 2007, produced and cowrote most of the material on his latest project which features guest artists Keyshia Cole, and Athena Cage (Keith’s duet partner on the million-selling 1996 hit “Nobody”).
The Harlem-born singer/songwriter and producer says he called his new album JUST ME “because I’m giving the people what they expect from me. You hear other artists out here who make the mistake of trying to be trendy. They really try to keep up. I know people want to hear Keith Sweat. I’m conscious of the people who have followed me the whole time, since day one. I remember that I have a fan base and I’m very careful to give the people what they expect from me.”
The first single from Keith Sweat’s JUST ME is the sexy jam “Suga Suga Suga,” featuring Paisley Bettis. Standout cuts include the hypnotic “Somebody,” which showcases Sweat singing falsetto for the first time; the future classic “Love You Better,” a truly memorable duet between Keith and hitmaker Keyshia Cole; and “Just Wanna Sex You,” a hit-the-spot cut that Keith says is on the album “to remind people of what I’ve done and what I’m about musically.”

“GO SPEED RACER GO” THEME SONG AVAILABLE MAY 6TH

On May 6th, the title song from the new live-action movie SPEED RACER, “Go Speed Racer Go”, will be available exclusively via Razor & Tie Entertainment. Performed by Ali Dee and The Deekrompessors, the theme song from the upcoming motion picture will be available on all online music services worldwide. In addition, a limited run of vinyl and CD singles will also be available. The song will be featured as part of in-theater audio programming in 6,500 auditoriums nationwide in the AMC, Regal and Cinemark chains, reaching an audience of 4 million.
Produced by Ali Dee and Jason Gleed, “Go Speed Racer Go” is a high-energy, urban cut inspired by the original theme song from the classic television series. The four-track digital single “Go Speed Racer Go” – Theme Song from the Motion Picture SPEED RACER will also include two instrumentals tracks and the film version of the song.
